![]() ![]() Thawing Out deals with that fundamental change in the character in a way that feels real and grows on you as you read more of the book. There was much outrage by the usual suspects, but like I mentioned above, whoever really cared about Bobby’s personal life. ![]() Lots of fun and interesting things happened (you really should go read that whole run of X-books) and one of the quieter things that happened is that young Bobby was revealed to be gay, and by extension, present day Bobby Drake as well. Some quick background (spoilers)… A couple of years ago, Brian Michael Bendis, in the most comic book of comic book moves, brought the teenage version of the original X-Men into the present-day Marvel Universe. Of all the X-Men who have come and gone over the years, there is no way he is the favorite of any X-fan. Really, all I know about him is that he is the slacker member of the first class of X-Men, the one who is wildly powerful when you think about it, but has never really grabbed anybody’s attention or forced Marvel to spend any time on him. Bobby Drake is one of those comic book characters that has been around for decades and while I’m sure there are stories about him that are fun and interesting, I’m not going to pretend to know what they are, or if they do in fact exist I suspect not. ![]()
